Examples
- General population update of AI. Equitable access to AI-powered tools, such as premium productivity software, personalised learning aids, healthcare diagnostics, or government services.
Indicators
- Extent of general public adoption of AI
- Digital divide statistics
- Statistics on diversity of AI adoption and availability
National AI Plan
PLAN COMMITMENT
Limited commitment
A narrative focus on inclusion and spreading AI benefits to all Australians, including First Nations peoples, women, people with disability, and regional communities, including case studies on First Nations and with Good Things Australia, and reference to Digital Inclusion Index (Action 5). But no specific initiatives or funding to support. Limited commitment by government is a missed opportunity to increase domestic maturity in a globally scarce capability with high public interest value. If action is not taken to close this gap, the Plan's goal to spread the benefits of AI will not be achieved (likewise with the 4 capabilities below).
